Ram Khatri’s new graphic novel launched
Ram Khatri’s new graphic novel was launched in the Nepali Culture & Spiritual Center by Dallas Chapter of the International Nepali Literary Society on Sunday. Justice: A Tale of the Nepali Civil War (The Graphic Novel Book #1) is one of the planned 3 book series written for young readers and grown-ups.
The INLS founding president Bhim Karki, organization treasurer Bhagabati Poudel, literary critic Binod Rijal, author of the graphic novel Ram Khatri, author and professor of English literature Brett Bourbon spoke in the book launch ceremony highlighting the need of international literature in the mainstream publishing.
“The story, characters and voices represented by this graphic novel are diverse and unique,” said author Khatri, adding, “and diversity is an opportunity to break in into the mainstream book market and to reach out to a wider audience.”
Sharing their experiences, students studying in various grade levels said that they got a chance to read an interesting graphic novel this time written about Nepal from their favorite reads such as Diary of Wimpy Kids and The Baby-Sitters Club series.
Illustrated by Sandipan Santra and Ingrid Lilamani, and edited by Blake Hoena, JUSTICE is available for schools, libraries, and online purchase through major distributors and retailers. Last year, author Ram Khatri had launched a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for the first issue of this book.
